Paula Wharton

Paula is originally from the Wirral and began acting while a member of Liverpool’s Everyman Youth Theatre. She went on to train at Chichester College and Birmingham School of Speech and Drama (now the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire).

For her role as May in Copper Thread Productions highly acclaimed short film Dog Run she received the Best Supporting Actress Award from The British Short Film Awards and the Best Female Actor at The Wolverhampton Film Festival.

Her TV work includes appearances in Peaky Blinders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. More recently she has been seen playing Mrs. Kitchen in the Jimmy Carr comedy film Fackham Hall.

On stage she has worked with Midlands based theatre companies as well as with the Birmingham Young Rep.

As a writer she has produced her own play, Shooting Stars at the Midlands Arts Centre

and was commissioned by The British Museum to write historical workshops for

children as part of their Young Friends events. This also included her play The Competitors of Olympus, performed by Tesserae Theatre in front of The Nereid Monument at the museum.
